Second edition of the “Printemps de l’Aître Saint-Maclou”
As part of the European Artistic Craft Days, the Pôle Céramique, supported by the Rouen Normandy Metropolis, the city of Rouen and the Ateliers d’Art de France, will organize the second edition of the Printemps de l’Aître Saint-Maclou, from the 6th to the 8th of April, 2018. On the agenda, 40 craft professionals will present their works to the participants, an installation made by Pierre Guilloteau on the theme of the sphere will be shown and many activities, workshops and demonstrations will be offered. For the occasion, many spaces will be opened to public. In the Atelier 188, you will find a demonstration of earthenware jar, in the Space 184, conferences will be organized, in the yard, ceramists and a knifemaker will present their works, in the south wing, next to the Pierre Guilloteau installation, demonstrations and workshops will be dedicated to kids adults whereas glassmakers and ceramic restorers will settled in the south wing 2 to show their Art.
The Pôle Céramique Normandie will move into the Aître Saint-Maclou in 2020 to develop a project on Craft and Art. Their objectives will be to inform about ceramic, craft and art of fire, to sensitize the public to the handmade work and to enhance the works of the artists.
For further information, the Metropole Rouen Normandie will organized, at 6 pm the 30th of March , a public meeting to present the Aître Saint-Maclou’s architectural restoration at the Museum of Fine Arts’ auditorium. Richard Duplat, the head architect at Monuments Historiques, will present the different steps in rehabilitating.
